What personal data we collect and why we collect it
CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT
This website and any products and services offered herein are not intended for people under age 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. We prohibit children under 13 from using all interactive portions of this website, including leaving comments, filling out forms, or otherwise submitting information. If we learn we have any information or content from anyone younger than 13, we will delete that information.
COMMENTS
When visitors leave comments on this site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect and eliminate spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using that service. The Gravatar service privacy pledge is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
MEDIA
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
CONTACT FORMS
We use Fluent Forms to manage contact form submissions. When you submit a form, the information you provide — such as your name and email address — is stored securely and used only to respond to your inquiry. We do not share this information with third parties.
COOKIES
Cookies are small text files used to store small pieces of information. They are stored on your device when the website is loaded on your browser. These cookies help us make the website function properly, make it more secure, provide better user experience, and understand how the website performs and to analyze what works and where it needs improvement.
The third-party cookies used on our website are mainly for understanding how the website performs and how you interact with our website, keeping our services secure, providing you with a better and improved user experience, and helping speed up your future interactions with our website.
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also will set up several cookies to save your log-in information and your screen display choices. Log-in cookies last for two days, and screen-options cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your log-in will persist for two weeks.
If you log out of your account, the log-in cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
EMBEDDED CONTENT FROM OTHER WEBSITES
Blog posts on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.).
Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
We want you to feel informed and confident when visiting The Enchanted Garden. While we carefully consider the content we embed, we have no control over third-party websites or how they collect and use your data. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site whose embedded content you interact with, so that you can make informed decisions about your personal information.
ANALYTICS
Many websites use Google Analytics to gather (too much) info on site visitors. We don’t like it when other websites gather our personal info to track us, so we don’t do it to our visitors.
As of the date of this privacy policy, we do not use an analytics tool to track your use of our site. If that changes, this policy will be updated to reflect it, and the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will change accordingly.
Whom we share your data with
In a nutshell: We will never sell, rent or lease your personal data to a third party. We don’t want other sites using our personal data in that way, so we won’t do it to you.
But sometimes we use service providers and others who help with our business operations and assist in the delivery of our products and services. This includes but is not limited to:
- Application development, site hosting, maintenance, data analysis, infrastructure provision, IT services, customer service, email delivery services, payment processing, marketing, analytics and enforcement of our Terms of Use and other agreements.
- Other users of the site to identify you to anyone to whom you send messages or make comments through the services.
- People or entities with whom you consent to have your personal data shared.
- Third parties in order to prevent damage to our property (tangible and intangible), for safety reasons, or to collect amounts owed to us.
- Merchants and payment processors.
- Third parties as we believe necessary or appropriate, in any manner permitted under applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence to:
- Comply with legal processes.
- Respond to requests from public and government authorities, including public and government authorities outside your country of residence.
- Enforce our Terms of Use and other agreements.
- Protect our operations.
- Protect our rights, privacy, safety or property and/or that of our affiliates, you, or others.
- Allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. A user can see, edit, or delete his or her personal information at any time (but cannot change the username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To contact us, click here or email kim@theenchantedgarden.net.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service. You can find the privacy policy of Antispam Bee (our current spam-detection service) by visiting GitHub.
Business Transfers
If we or our assets are acquired, we would include data, including your personal information, among the assets transferred to any parties who acquire us. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and that any parties that acquire us may, to the extent permitted by applicable law, continue to use your personal information according to this policy, which they will be required to assume, as it is the basis for any ownership or use rights we have over such information.
HOW WE PROTECT YOUR DATA
We use reasonable and appropriate physical, electronic, and administrative safeguards to protect personal data from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction, taking into account the nature of the personal data and risks involved in processing that information.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
The Enchanted Garden may change this Privacy Policy at any time. The most recent version of the Privacy Policy is indicated by the “Last Updated” date at the top and/or bottom of the Privacy Policy. All changes are effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of this website signifies your continuing consent to be bound by this Privacy Policy.
